Header Nursery

We welcome you and your child to Stonecreek’s Nursery environment. We firmly believe the first two years of life are of unparalleled importance in building character, love and a positive response to Jesus Christ and the church. It is a privilege for us to partner with you in the spiritual development of your child and we promise to provide clean, safe and high-quality learning environments every Sunday at both 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail Monica Boyd, Director of Nursery Ministries (770-754-7900, ext. 102, ).

What are the Children Ministries at Stonecreek?

We have three children environments at Stonecreek:

How old does my child have to be to start attending the nursery?

Our recommendation is that your child is at least six weeks old prior to bringing him or her to the nursery.

When is the nursery available?

The Nursery facilities open 15 minutes prior to any Sunday service and church wide event.

How do I find the right room for my child?

We will register your child into the correct room with a Quicklink ID badge. You will receive a matching parental receipt each time your child checks in. In terms of which room your child will go into, because children develop differently, our nursery is divided by developmental stages rather than age groups. As your child develops with new abilities (crawling, walking) we will place them in the correct room. Once they are walking they will be placed in a room by their birthday with other children their age. This room will then be the same room until the next promotion.

What security measures are followed in the Nursery?

All children must be accompanied to their rooms by a parent or adult guardian and will only be released to the parent or guardian who has the Quicklink parental receipt. If a Quicklink receipt is lost, your child’s teacher will ask to see your picture ID/driver’s license before the child is released. Only adults can pick up a child from their room.

What should I bring for my child?
  • Diaper bag with child's name on it

  • Bottle (or sippy cup) with child's name on it

  • Any comfort items your child have (e.g., blanket, favorite toy)

  • Extra change of clothes

How will you contact me if my child needs me?

If a parent is needed during a service or event your child’s ID# (three digit code on the Quicklink parental receipt) will be displayed on the large screen in the adult worship environment. If you see your child’s ID# on the screen, quietly leave the service and come to the nursery desk.

Is there a private area available for nursing mothers?

Stonecreek provides a private area for nursing mothers in room 102.

Can I bring baby food to be fed to my child while in the nursery?

Infants will be fed formula, milk, juice or water as provided by parent or guardian in plastic bottles or cups. There are no provisions for any other type of feeding. Our older one's and two’s are served a snack of cheerio’s or crackers and water during their hour in the nursery.

Do you have any health policies that I need to know?

For the protection of your child and other children, parents are requested not to bring a child who appears ill. Upon the recommendation of the Committee for Control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child should not be brought to the nursery when any of the following exists:

  • Fever – currently or within 24 hours

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • Any symptoms of a childhood disease such as scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chickenpox or whooping cough

  • Common cold from onset through one week

  • Sore throat

  • Croup

  • Any unexplained rash

  • Any skin infection, boils, ringworm or impetigo

  • Pinkeye or other eye infection

  • Head lice

If a child develops a fever or other symptoms of illness, he/she will be removed from the environment and the parents contacted to take the child home.

A child who is sent home must be free of any symptoms at least 24 hours before returning.

Should your child develop an infectious disease(mumps, measles, chickenpox, etc.) following a session in the nursery please contact the nursery director immediately (770-754-7900, ext. 102, ).

How do I let a teacher know of my child’s allergies?

Parents should inform the Quicklink host when checking-in their child of any allergies or health issues.

Can I come and check on my child during the hour?

If you would like to check on your child we ask you to get the nursery director or hallway coordinator to look in for you. Other family members and friends are asked not to enter the rooms or visit the child to “look in” on him/her. This may upset your child or other children, and disrupt the teaching session.

What can I do as a parent to make our child’s first time in the nursery a positive experience?

For a child’s first experience in our nursery to be happy and meaningful, the major responsibility is in the hands of his or her parents. It is best for one parent to bring the child to his room and leave him at the door. Please do not enter the room unless you have a sleeping child. As your child begins to walk, allow him to walk into his room. This builds confidence and independence.

If you forget something and must return to your child’s room, please stay out of sight, knock quietly and whisper to the teacher. Then quickly leave. Avoid letting your child see you because this may trigger his inner clock to think it’s time to go.

What will my child’s experience be in the nursery on Sunday mornings?

While your child is in our nursery environment, he or she will enjoy a variety of experiences. These will include Bible stories, craft time and planned activities in our center areas. Your child will enjoy books, puzzles, home living, blocks and music. Our classes are staffed with dedicated adults who are actively involved in your child’s learning. Our goal is to provide a loving encouraging environment for your child.
