Quick Updates on the Ministry
The ministry continues in exciting ways!
2nd Annual Hope for Guatemala Atlanta Golf Tournament Fast Approaching: On Monday, April 28th we will hold the 2nd Annual Atlanta Golf Tournament. Last year's tournament was a huge success, as we rose over $11,000 to benefit Hope for Guatemala and the children we work with. We look forward to this year's tournament being even bigger and better. We are still looking for golfers and sponsors for this event. All of the details and registration can be found at www.golf4guatemala.com. If you have additional questions, please contact Kyle Liming at . Brandon will be traveling back to this event, and he hopes to see you there.
Hope for Guatemala Soccer Gets First Win: As you many have heard, we launched two soccer teams in January, which was the first ever for our ministry. This was an exciting time for us in the ministry, and a time to start to build teamwork, unity, and learn the proper rules of soccer. Needless to say, it was a challeging first season filled with ups and down, but by the end of the season the team had improved dramtically, and we saw a bright future ahead. Fast forward to last week, with the launch of our second season and our newly created 8-10 year-old team. With some kids moving down from our other teams and some new ones added, the kids played incredible and won our first game 7-4. We could not be happier for them, but it wasn't just the win we were happy about. We have been teaching them to honor God first, play together as a team second, and a win is third. If you just win and miss the first two, it really isn't a "true" win. The great thing about last Saturday was the team "won" in all areas. Hopefully, this is the start of many more victories to come.
Christian School and Medical Clinic Project Update: We have made some good progress in the fund raising for the first phase of building. Currently, we have raised $37,400. Thank you to everyone who have contributed to this project. We continue to trust in God, and look forward to new doors opening to help meet the finincial goals for this project.
Where are we?
We are keeping busy working full-time in the ministry here in Guatemala. Shanna is heading up and creating the Child Sponsorship program, which now has 40 children sponsored. Brandon is wearing many hats, as he works with the kids coaching the two soccer teams, helps out with day to day stuff in the ministry, makes the regular trip to the market on Tuesdays, and continues to help with fund raising events in the US.
Coming up soon are chances to see us when we return to the States:
Brandon will be returning on Wednesday, April 23rd-April 30th to Atlanta. He will be available at Stonecreek Church on Sunday, April 27th and Monday, April 28th at the 2nd Annual Hope for Guatemala Atlanta Golf Tournament.
The Christensen Family will be returning on May 24th through the middle of June. Stay tuned for a more complete schedule on when and where we will be during our return.
